About Us
Partnering for a sustainable future.
We are building a community of land managers passionate about sustainable land use, where farming and nature thrive together.
Natural Asset Partners was founded with the vision to deliver tangible natural capital projects while making these opportunities accessible to landowners and farmers. We partner with land managers to deliver impactful, large-scale nature recovery projects across the UK.
Our mission is to make natural capital markets transparent, accessible and effective, allowing landowners to turn their natural assets into sustainable sources of income.
Biodiversity Net Gain
As of 2024, developers in England must demonstrate a 10% increase in biodiversity to gain planning permission. When this uplift is not possible onsite, they can pay local landowners to create new habitats and improve existing ones on their behalf. This offsite biodiversity gain is then allocated to the development, ensuring compliance with the 10% net gain requirement.
Carbon Markets
Through changing land management or land use, landowners can undertake projects that sequester carbon. Activities such as tree planting, peatland restoration, and improving soil carbon through sustainable farming capture more carbon, which can then be verified and quantified before being sold as credits to organisations looking to offset their emissions.
Nature-Based Solutions
Almost all organisations and businesses depend on nature’s ecosystem services. More responsible companies are recognising this reliance and are partnering with landowners to sustain or improve the nature or services that they depend. Payments for flood mitigation, water quality improvements, or access for recreation are becoming increasingly widespread.

What is BNG?
Understanding Biodiversity Net Gain
BNG is an opportunity for landowners to improve biodiversity through habitat creation. This produces BNG units that are then sold to developers, generating a alternative income stream.
To comply with the Environment Act 2021, developers in England must demonstrate a 10% biodiversity uplift to secure planning permission. When this is not achievable onsite, they can partner with local landowners to provide the biodiversity uplift. By participating in BNG, landowners can utilise unproductive land, diversify their income and deliver on nature recovery.
Natural Asset Partners provide end-to-end solutions for landowners looking to explore BNG.
Our team works closely with landowners to design a tailored nature recovery scheme, develop financial modelling, provide legal support and connect with developers to purchase your BNG units. Our partnership-led approach ensures landowners can confidently participate in BNG, securing financial benefits while enhancing biodiversity.

National Farmers Union
"The health of the land is the foundation of the future. Landowners who embrace regenerative practices will lead the way in balancing nature and profitability."
Natural England
"By restoring habitats, planting trees, and enhancing biodiversity, landowners are not only protecting nature - they’re creating new income streams and future-proofing their estates."
Natural Capital Forum
"Investing in nature isn’t a sacrifice - it’s an opportunity to build resilience, enhance biodiversity, and ensure economic returns for generations to come."
UK Government
"Those who own the land hold the power to heal it. By integrating conservation with business, landowners can turn sustainability into an asset, not a cost."
Tony Juniper, Chair of Natural England
"Achieving nature recovery is a complex task that can only be realised through partnerships. These bring together the people who manage land and sea, the different sources of investment, and knowledge that we need to make progress."
Natural Capital Committee
"Landowners are the stewards of the natural world, holding the key to restoring ecosystems, capturing carbon, and enhancing biodiversity for future generations."
Mark Bridgeman, President of the Country Land and Business Association
"As stewards of the countryside, landowners are uniquely placed to deliver meaningful programmes that will drive environmental recovery."

The BNG Process
Carbon Markets
Transitioning To Net Zero
We help landowners implement trustworthy and transparent carbon sequestration schemes.

Woodland Planting
Tree planting sequesters carbon, boosts biodiversity and strengthens land resilience. The Woodland Carbon Code (WCC) certifies projects for financial incentives and verified carbon credits.

Peatland Restoration
Healthy peatlands store vast carbon reserves. The Peatland Carbon Code (PCC) helps landowners restore them, generating certified carbon credits while improving water quality and biodiversity.

Sustainable Agriculture
Regenerative farming enhances soil carbon storage and productivity. The Soil Association’s Soil Carbon Exchange supports farmers in measuring and monetising soil carbon through verified credits.
Nature-Based Solutions
The Natural Capital Approach
Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) are projects that work with nature and natural processes to overcome economic, social and environmental challenges.
Almost all organisations and businesses depend on nature’s ecosystem services. More responsible companies are recognising this reliance and are partnering with landowners to sustain or improve the ecosystem services on which they depend.
Payments for flood mitigation, water quality improvements and access to land for recreation are becoming increasingly widespread. We work with landowners to take advantage of these opportunities and deliver nature-based solutions.

Water Quality Regulation
Enhancing riparian zones and planting trees along waterways to reduce runoff, filter pollutants, and support aquatic ecosystems. These solutions can be incentivised through public and private payments such as from water companies.

Flood Risk Mitigation
Reconnecting floodplains to river channels enables natural water storage and reduces peak flows. Insurance providers are increasingly exploring partnerships with landowners to mitigate against flood damage risks.

Coastal Erosion Control
Restoring coastal habitats such as saltmarsh to provide natural sea defences and long-term erosion protection. These solutions are often delivered by landowners on behalf of the Environment Agency as cost-effective solutions for the long term.
